NAPLES, ITALY –– USA Team embarked on its journey overseas and enjoyed the opening ceremonies of the 2019 World University Games on Tuesday night in Naples.
In front of 65,000 screaming fans, the United States finally were called to take its famed walk around the track. The USA earned the second-highest ovation of any country, only to the hosts, Italy.
About halfway around the track, the team noticed every fan clamoring for something that had “USA” or the United States flag on it to take home. Sophomore Parker Fox and junior Aamir Simms appeased the locals and proceeded to hand out pins and flags to fans along the track.
It was certainly a moment that Fox and Simms will not forget.
