Pair of Swimmers Earn ACC Academic Honors

May 9, 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Senior Chris Dart and junior Meg Anderson were selected to represent the Clemson swimming and diving program on the ACC All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Wednesday.

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have a 3.00 grade point average in the previous semester and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average throughout his or her college career.

Dart, a communication studies major from Chatham, NJ, was selected to the academic all-conference squad all four years at Clemson. He is the 21st member of the Tiger men’s program to accomplish the feat during the career, and he is one of only two four-time selections on this year’s team.

“I am proud of Chris for receiving this honor all four years of his competitive career,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “It confirms our program’s consistent dedication to follow the mission of the ACC and our athletic department.”

Anderson, an early childhood education major from Tampa, FL, earned her second selection to the academic all-conference team. She was one of 15 student-athletes to earn a repeat selection on this year’s squad.

“Meg is only a junior and has continued to improve each year,” Ip said. “She has achieved All-ACC Academic honors twice now, helping our women’s team to number two and three national team rankings in academics these past two years. With the phase-out of our swim programs completed, Meg will retire from swimming following USA Olympic Trials in June and forego competing during her senior year at Clemson.”
