Oliveira Named USTFCCCA Female Scholar Athlete of the Year

Former Clemson track and field athlete Gisele Oliveira was named the 2005 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Earlier this year, Oliveira received her second CoSIDA Academic All-America honor after graduating with a 3.96 cumulative GPA in management. She also was one of three Clemson student-athletes to earn the ACC’s Weaver-James-Corrigan postgraduate scholarship.

This past weekend, the Porto Alegre, Brazil native recorded a mark of 45’7.25″/13.90m to claim the triple jump crown at the 2005 South American Championships. A six-time All-American at Clemson, she was the 2005 NCAA Indoor Champion in the triple jump and runner-up in the same event at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Oliveira set the Clemson, ACC, and South American record in the triple jump during the 2005 season with a mark of 45’9″.
