CLEMSON, SC – The 13th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will be the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament, which begins on Thursday at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, NC. Clemson finished the ACC regular season with a 9-2 record, which left them in a tie for second place with No. 17 Virginia. By virtue of Clemson’s 4-3 win over the Cavs on April 14, the Tigers earn the tiebreaker. The top four seeds each earn byes in the tournament. North Carolina (10-1 ACC, No. 1 national rank) will be the top seed. The No. 2 seed is the best for Clemson since the 2007 season, when they entered as the top seed. Clemson will play the winner of the match between seventh-seeded Florida State and 10th-seeded Wake Forest on Friday at noon. Clemson defeated the then-No. 16 Seminoles, 5-2, in Tallahassee on March 1, and beat Wake Forest 6-1 ni Winston-Salem on Sunday. The Clemson roster is comprised entirely of freshmen and sophomores.
