Clemson Women’s Tennis Notes
CLEMSON, SC – The No. 12 Clemson women’s tennis team (9-3) will play host to 25th-ranked South Carolina (6-1) on Sunday at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson at 12:00pm. The match will likely be the first of the season to be held outdoors, as forecasts call for mostly sunny skies with a high of 76 degrees.
Admission is free to all home tennis events, and live scoring will be available here.
Clemson will play its fifth straight match against a top 25 team, as each of the previous four opponents is in this week’s top ten. Paired with No. 15 Georgia Tech on Wednesday and No. 8 Miami next Sunday, it will be a stretch of seven in a row.
The Tigers upset No. 7 UCLA at the ITA Team Indoor National Championships round of 16 last week to get to the round of eight for the first time in school history. Clemson then fell to No. 2 Florida and No. 8 Michigan to close out the week.
Clemson has won the last four matchups with South Carolina, and holds a 23-22 advantage in the all-time series.
Josipa Bek is Clemson’s top-ranked player with a No. 14 national ranking. Fellow junior Keri Wong is ranked 37th in the nation in singles, and has played primarily at the No. 2 single spot. Bek and Wong are ranked No. 2 nationally in doubles and are 20-6 as a duo this school year, and have knocked off two national No. 1s.
Clemson has also been getting solid play from freshmen Maria Belaya. Vyskocilova took down two ranked opponents at the indoor championships, and Belaya won one of her matchups with a ranked opponent.
