CLEMSON, SC – The 11th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will open the 2011 ACC dual match season when they play host to No. 21 Georgia Tech (5-4, 0-1 ACC) on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The Tigers (10-3, 0-0 ACC) are coming off a 4-3 win over South Carolina on Sunday.
Admission to the event is free, and live scoring will be available at ClemsonTigers.com.
Clemson is in the midst of a brutal stretch of schedule in which they have already played six of the last seven matches against top 25 teams, and have two more this week in Georgia Tech and No. 12 Miami on Sunday.
Harris’ team sports a 9-1 home mark this season, but this will be just the second match played outside this year. Clemson holds a 25-8 all-time advantage over the Jackets, but the teams split last season.
The Tigers defeated Tech in the regular season in Atlanta, but the Jackets ousted the Tigers in the ACC Tournament Semifinals on their way to an upset ACC Championship.
Clemson features three nationally ranked players in singles, in No. 15 Josipa Bek, No. 58 Keri Wong, and No. 104 Klara Vyskocilova. Vyskocilova is ranked for the first time in her career, as the freshman is off to a 9-2 start in dual match play.
Wong and Bek are ranked 3rd in the nation in doubles, and have a 21-6 mark together, but each is 24-6 overall in playing with other partners.
After playing Georgia Tech, Clemson will take on No. 12 Miami at noon on Sunday, also at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
