CARY, N.C. – The 12th seeded Clemson men’s tennis team will play No. 5 seed and 18th ranked Florida State on Thursday, April 20 for the second round of the ACC Championships. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. on Bank 1 at the Cary Tennis Park.

Florida State leads the all-time series against Clemson 26-21. The Seminoles most recently defeated the Tigers 4-0 in Tallahassee earlier this season.

The Tigers defeated No. 13 seed Boston College earlier this afternoon 4-1 to advance to the second round of the ACC Tournament thanks to wins from Ryuhei Azuma, Trey Stinchcomb, Spencer Whitaker and Nini Dica, who clinched the match for Clemson.

Last year, the Tigers made a splash in the ACC Tournament, advancing to the ACC Quarterfinals for the first time since 2015 after sweeping Boston College in the first round and upsetting then No. 22 Duke.

Ryuhei Azuma has dominated on Court 1 as of late, defeating two ranked opponents in the last four matches. Azuma defeated Virginia Tech’s No. 44 Ryan Fishback while also registering a win against Louisville’s No. 72 Rodrigues. He was awarded with a No. 93 ITA singles ranking.

In the same match, Jorge Plans Gonzalez registered his highest ranked win of the season on Court 2 against No. 26 Donnet, winning 7-5, 6-2.
