Clemson, SC – Lady Tiger midfielder Molly Franklin was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for her play during the week of September 4. Franklin, a sophomore from Frederick, MD, tallied a goal and four assists in Clemson’s three matches last week.
Franklin helped lead the Lady Tigers to a 2-1 victory against #23 Long Beach State last Friday, assisting on both goals in the match. In addition, she tallied one assist each in Clemson’s victories over Western Carolina and Coastal Carolina. She also scored her first goal of the season against the Chanticleers.
With two assists recorded in Clemson’s season opener against Liberty, Franklin now has six assists on the young season. She currently leads the NCAA in assists per game with 1.50.
Soccer Buzz considers over 5,000 Division I women’s soccer players on a weekly basis when selecting its Elite Team of the Week. Franklin was one of 18 players named to this week’s team. This is her second career Soccer Buzz weekly honor, as she was named to the Elite Team of the Week for the week of October 24, 2006 during her freshman season.
