Meyer’s Strong Summer Culminates with HCBL Award for Top Pitcher

Aug. 10, 2010

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Paddlers’ Jonathan Meyer (Clemson) concluded a tremendous summer by winning the Top Pitcher award for the 2010 HCBL season.

Making his debut for Head Coach David Eldredge on July 4th after arriving from Omaha representing the Tigers in the College World Series, Meyer finished with a record of 4-1, 1.22 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 37 innings. He was also the starting pitcher for the Makai Islanders in the All-Star Game on July 19th.

“It’s an honor to win this award, coming here a couple of weeks late I didn’t expect this, or even to be an All-Star at that, but I had good teammates behind me that played defense when they needed to play defense and score runs when they needed to score runs,” Meyer said. “I feel this is an accomplishment and hopefully I bring this with me to my sophomore season.”
