The Clemson men’s track & field team will travel to Ames, IA to take part in the Iowa State Classic on Friday and Saturday. So far this season, seven student-athletes have posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks for Clemson. Included on the list is Itay Magidi, who will travel to Seattle, WA to compete in the 3000m run at Husky Invitational.
At the Iowa State meet, three Tigers will compete in the 60m dash, including NCAA qualifier Brent Hobbs will also run in the 60m. In the 200m, Brown will represent Clemson along with Andy Porter. In the 400m, Mills and Porter will compete with Roy Cheney and Rashad Gardner for the Tigers.
Darrian Hodges, Brian Knapp, and Clay Pendleton will run in the 800m, with both Noble and Pendleton also competing in the mile. On Saturday morning, Greg Isaacs, Sean Reilly, and Eric Soder will run in the 3000m. Brian Soder will run the 5000m on Friday evening.
In the 60m hurdles, a group of five Tigers (Cheney, Feathers, Gardner, Hobbs, and Lydell Perry) will compete and take their shot at posting NCAA times in that event. Clemson will enter two teams in the 4x400m relay, with an “A” team of Mills, Brown, Cheney, and Gardner. The “B” team will consist of Perry, Porter, Hodges, and Knapp. Also entering the distance medley relay for the Tigers will be Noble, Gardner, Knapp, and Pendleton.
In the field events, Feathers, Hobbs, and Jason Bell will attempt the long jump on Friday afternoon. Bell will also compete in the triple jump, where he has posted an NCAA provisional mark this year. In the pole vault, Andrew Kessler will compete while Adam Linkenauger looks to continue to move up in the Tiger record books in the high jump. Danny Alge will look to improve on his season-best marks in the 35lb weight throw.
