Men’s Track & Field #9 in Latest USTFCCCA Rankings

Clemson, SC – The men’s track & field team is listed #9 in the latest national rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA). The Tigers were the preseason #14 team, thus moved up five spots in the first poll of the indoor season. Arkansas and Tennessee are the nation’s top two ranked teams.

The Tigers have competed in four meets already this season and won the team title at the Clemson Invitational on January 19. Four student-athletes have posted NCAA qualifying marks, including Travis Padgett in the 60m dash with an automatic time. He ran a 6.62, which ranks #1 in the nation, at the Clemson Opener on November 30. Padgett is the defending NCAA champion in the event.

Mitch Greeley holds a strong NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault. He is currently ranked second in the nation in the vault with a clearance of 17’7.25″. He cleared the season-best in a win at the Clemson Opener.

C.J. Spiller also have provisional qualifying marks in the 60m dash. Guy clocked a 6.71 in the Clemson Opener, while Spiller achieved the same time two weeks ago at the Clemson Invitational. It was a personal best for the two-sport athlete.

The team returns to action Friday and Saturday in Chapel Hill, NC for the Carolina Classic.
