Men’s Tennis Sends Six to Three Tournaments

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team is set to kick off its fall competition slate this weekend by sending six players to three different tournaments. The players involved are juniors Simon Baudry, Gabriel Diaz Freire and Carlos Kelaidis, sophomore Yizhou Liu, and freshmen Teodor Giusca and Matteo Vialmin.

Baudry, who earned a No. 46 singles preseason ranking by the ITA, is slated to participate in the singles Main Draw of the ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Matches begin on Thursday, with qualifiers wrapping up this afternoon.

Diaz Freire, Giusca and Liu will be competing in the Texas Tamale Company Houston Cup, a $25K Futures tournament in Houston, Texas. Giusca takes an ATP singles ranking of No. 1361 into the tournament, and Diaz Freire is ranked at No. 1798 in ATP singles heading into the weekend. Qualifying starts Saturday for the Houston Futures tournament.

Kelaidis and Vialmin will see action on more local courts at the South Carolina Men’s Collegiate Tennis Championships in Belton, S.C. The event runs from Friday to Sunday and features players from schools across the state, including Clemson, South Carolina, South Carolina State, Wofford, Furman, The Citadel, USC Sumter, North Greenville, Presbyterian College, Newberry, Winthrop and Coastal Carolina.
