Men’s Tennis Opens 2000 Season With 1-2 Record

DALLAS – The Clemson men’s tennis team defeated Minnesota 4-3, but lost to SMU 5-2, and Boise State 4-3 in the season opening matches for the Tiger Tennis squad at Dallas, TX.

Clemson’s number one player Josh Goffi won all three of his matches including a three-set match over Marsh Mankad of Minnesota 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Tomasz Boniecki was sidelined the first two matches in singles with food poising but came back and clinched the win for the Tigers in the Minnesota match. At number three-singles, Boniecki defeated Jorge Duenas 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to give Clemson the win.

The Tigers will play at Baylor Monday afternoon (2-14-00) in the next match for the Tigers.
