Men’s Tennis Finish Play In Clemson Spring Classic

Clemson, SC–By winning his final match on Sunday, Clemson men’s tennis player Kevin Gottfried won the flight six singles championship of the Clemson Spring Classic this weekend at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Gottfried, a red-shirt freshman from Ponte Verde Beach, Florida, posted a 4-1 record over the three day tournament en route to capturing the title. After losing his first match of the tournament, he tallied four straight victories against players from Charleston Southern, East Tennessee State, Rollins College, and Georgia Southern.

Also competing in the singles tournament for the Tigers were Joe Hopke and Brad Emendorfer who competed in the flight two and flight four championships respectively. There were no team dual matches played during the weekend event.

Clemson’s next action in dual competition will be on March 2-4 as the Tigers take part in the Universtiy of Miami Invitational.
