Men’s Tennis Falls To Boston College, 4-3

CLEMSON, SC – Boston College outlasted the Tigers in men’s tennis action on Sunday morning to eke out the 4-3 victory. Clemson held a 3-2 edge through doubles play and four singles matches, but the Eagles notched wins at the fifth and sixth positions to post the victory.

Clemson (14-16, 1-8 ACC) claimed the doubles point with wins at no. 1 and no. 2. Rok Bizjak and Ike Belk defeated Brian Garber and Sam Wagner of Boston College, 8-2, while Carlos Alvarez teamed with Kevin Fleck to edge Jason Sechrist and Erik Kreutzer, 9-8.

Kevin Galloway and Gera Boryachinskiy fell to the Eagle team of Thomas Nolan and Adam Davison, 8-4.

Alvarez also won in singles action, defeating Alex Rastorgouev at no. 1, 6-3, 6-0. Fleck picked up a singles win as well with a win over Kreutzer at the fourth position.

Boston College (7-15, 1-9) picked up wins at number two and three. Boryachinskiy fell to Nolan, 6-3, 6-3, while Belk lost a three-set battle to Sechrist (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).

The Eagles’ Brian Locklear won over Kevin Galloway (4-6, 6-2, 6-4).

Clemson will face Coker later this afternoon and then return to action on Wednesday against in-state rival South Carolina.
