West Point, NY — The 27th-ranked Clemson men’s tennis team defeated Columbia by a score of 7-0 at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on the campus of the U.S. Military Academy.
Clemson began the match by taking the doubles point. At number one doubles, seniors Goran Sterijovski and Damiisa Robinson defeated Akshay Rao and Rohan Saikia 8-5. The Tigers also won at number three doubles as Ryan Young downed Rajeev Emany and Yoku Kiuchi by a score of 8-4. The 17th-ranked team of Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins were upset by Jimmy Moore and Scott Robin 8-2.
The Tigers then swept the singles matches, as Sterijovski, Thompson, Robinson, Boetsch, and Young all won in straight sets. At number four singles, Jenkins came back from one set down to defeat Saikia 3-6, 6-3, 7-6.
With the win, Clemson improves to 7-2 on the season. The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday night as they face off against Army.
