Men’s Swimming Wraps Up Top 25 Finish at NCAA Meet

March 27, 2011

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Clemson men’s swimming team closed out the 2010-11 season with a 25th-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis.

With that mark, the program achieved an important trifecta of top 25 finishes. Clemson finished the season ranked 22nd academically among Division I programs, 25th in the final dual meet rankings, and 25th overall at the national championships. In all, the Tigers finished the three-day meet with 16.5 points.

“Our swimmers gave it everything they had left and just fell short of advancing to finals with their 17th place finish in the 400 freestyle relay,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “I am extremely proud of their accomplishments and I believe the swimming community appreciated their efforts.”

In the aforementioned relay, the Tiger team of Eric Bruck, Chris Reinke, Seth Broster, and Chris Dart finished just 51-hundredths of a second out of the finals with its time of 2:56.00.

Elsewhere, Dart swam the 200 backstroke in 1:44.15, finishing in 26th place. Bruck also competed in the 100 freestyle but was called for a false start.
