Men’s Swimmers Named Scholar All-Americans

July 22, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – Three members of the Clemson men’s swimming program were named Scholar All-Americans by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

Rising seniors Seth Broster, Chris Dart, and Chris Reinke were named to the team after each recorded a 3.5 GPA or better in the spring semester and qualified for the NCAA Championships. Clemson’s three selections were tied for fifth among Division I programs. Auburn led the way with ten swimmers named to the team.

In addition to the individual accomplishments from the men’s program, the Clemson women’s swimming team was named a Scholar America Team by the CSCAA. The squad posted a cumulative 3.59 GPA for the 2011 spring semester, which was tied for second in the nation and just one-hundredth of a point behind leader Ball State.

“I am proud of our swimmers who have kept things in perspective for collegiate athletics throughout this challenging season,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “The teams will be ready, once again, to take on any challenges this upcoming season.”

The Tiger men finished the 2010-11 season ranked 25th in the country, sending four student-athletes–including the three Scholar All-American honorees–to the NCAA Championships. Broster, Dart, and Reinke were recently among six Tigers named to the Academic All-ACC team, and Broster was also honored as a member of the Capital One Academic All-District Team.
