Men’s Soccer Falls To Penn State, 3-2

Sept. 3, 1999

COLUMBUS, OH — Greg Oldfield scored three goals while teammate Ryan Miller assisted on two goals in leading 20th-ranked Penn State to a 3-2 win over fourth-ranked Clemson in the Ohio State/Nike Classic at Columbus, OH Friday evening.

With the win, Penn State is now 1-0, while Clemson falls to 0-2 this season. Clemson’s Ross Goodacre scored one goal and assisted on the Tigers’ other score in today’s match. Bob Cavanagh score Clemson’s other goal.

Oldfield’s three goal performance is only the third time in Clemson history that the same player has scored three goals against the Tigers in a single game. The last player to accomplish this feat was Jay Heaps of Duke on September 21, 1997.

Clemson will play Ohio State on Sunday afternoon in the Tigers’ next action.
