Nov. 20, 2004

CLEMSON, SC – Itay Magidi and Derrick Wyatt are set to represent Clemson at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 22. The 2004 national meet will be held in Terre Haute, IN, and hosted by Indiana State University. Magidi and Wyatt were automatic qualifiers for the championships, as Magidi was the Southeast Region individual runner-up and Wyatt finished fifth at the region meet. Both Tigers earned all-region honors, and this will be their first trip to the national meet.

Magidi, a sophomore from Yavne, Israel, recorded a personal-best time of 30:11.7 in the region meet. Earlier this season, he earned all-state honors after winning the Clemson Invitational and South Carolina Collegiate meet individual crown. Magidi led Clemson at the ACC Championships, finishing fourth to earn All-ACC accolades, and was Clemson’s frontrunner again at the region meet.

Wyatt, a senior from Liberty, SC, is making his first trip to the NCAA meet after finishing fifth at the region meet with a career-best 10K time of 30:19.2. Wyatt led the Tigers at the Appalachian State Invitational, Winthrop Invitational and Pre-NCAA Championship meets. He earned All-ACC honors with his 10th-place finish.
