Christine Long, a 2005 Clemson graduate who worked in the school’s sports information office for three years as a student-assistant has been named assistant sports information director. Long replaces Anne Miller, who resigned in June to enter the pharmaceutical sales industry.
Long will handle the publicity responsibilities for women’s basketball, volleyball and women’s tennis in her first year as a full-time employee. She worked with those sports, plus men’s basketball and baseball during the past three years as a student.
In 2005 she handled the day to day publicity responsibilities for the Women’s tennis team that reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Her media guide was ranked fourth in the nation by CoSIDA.
Long earned her Bachelor of Science in marketing from Clemson this past May. She graduated Summa Cum Laude. She also earned a minor in marketing. In addition to her work in the SID office, she spent a semester as an intern with Showcase marketing in Greenville. She was also president of the Sports Marketing Club at Clemson.
Academically, Long was a member of Clemson’s Calhoun Honors College and the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society.
The native of Bellbrook, Ohio begins her employment on August 15.
