Letter to the Clemson Family from Jeff Davis

Dec. 9, 2007

Dear Clemson Family,

“On Tuesday, December 4th at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, I became the third player in Clemson history to be inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame. It was one of the most humbling and gratifying moments of my life, not simply because of the prestige associated with the award, but, because of the overwhelming support I received from my Clemson family.

“From current and former administrators and staff, to coaches and athletic directors, to current President Jim Barker, everyone worked to ensure that my family and I enjoyed a truly unforgettable experience.

“I was reminded why I chose Clemson so many years ago. From the moment I arrived on campus, I knew there was `something in these hills’.

“I know it is an old cliché’, but more than any other moment in my life…I simply can not find words profound enough to express my level of my appreciation. I am overwhelmed with emotion as I continue to receive numerous congratulatory expressions from fans, friends, and alumni.

“While I am the one receiving the award, it is a representation of “One Clemson” and “we have triumphed.” On behalf of the Davis Family, again, thank you for making it one of the most memorable events in my life so remarkable, and I will always remain…Solid Orange.”
