Leggett Named to Mackey Award Watch List

CLEMSON, S.C. — Jordan Leggett is one of seven ACC tight ends on the John Mackey Award Watch List announced on Wednesday.  The award goes to the top tight end in college football.  Clemson’s Dwayne Allen won the honor at the conclusion of the 2011 season.  He is now in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts.

Leggett has 26 receptions for 337 yards and three scores in 21 games over his first two years.  In 2014 the native of Navarre, Fla. had 14 catches for 161 yards and a score.  He started seven games for the Tigers, who finished the season with a No. 15 ranking in both polls and a 10-3 record.   His top game last year came in a victory over Louisville when he had three catches for 43 yards against a defense that was ranked first in the nation entering the contest.

Leggett has contributed to a pair of bowl wins over the last two years.  He had a 43-yard reception in the win over Ohio State as a freshman in the 2014 Orange Bowl.  Last year he had two catches for 13 yards in the Russell Athletic Bowl win over Oklahoma.

Other ACC tight ends on the Mackey list are Braxton Deaver of Duke, David Grinnage of NC. State, Bucky Hodges and Ryan  Malleck of Virginia Tech, J.P. Holtz of Pittsburgh and Cam Serigne of Wake Forest.
