Lady Tigers To Face Charlotte Wednesday On The Road

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will end an 11-day holiday break on Wednesday night as the Lady Tigers (7-7) will travel to Concord, NC to take on the Charlotte 49ers (7-7). The teams are scheduled to tip off at 7:00 pm at the Halton Arena.

Fans can follow the action on the airwaves on wccp-fm (104.9) with Dan Scott calling the play-by-play and Kanetra Queen providing color commentary. Livestats will also be available for the game by accessing www.clemsontigers.com.

Senior D’Lesha Lloyd leads the team in scoring with a 9.7 per game average, while Lele Hardy, a sophomore from Spartanburg, SC, owns a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game figure. Christy Brown and Kirstyn Wright, who is coming off of a career-high day against South Carolina on Dec. 22, have each drained 14 three-point field goals for Head Coach Cristy McKinney’s team in the 2007-08 season.

Scouting The 49ers After dropping its first five games of the season, Charlotte has won seven of its last nine for an even 7-7 record. However, the 49ers boast a 4-2 record in games played on their home court and most recently defeated Arkansas State on the road.

Sabrina Gregory and Danielle Burgin are tied for the team scoring lead with averages of 11.9 points per game. Burgin is also leading Charlotte on the boards with an 8.9 per game average, while Gregory owns a team-high 28 steals.

Overall, the 49ers are posting 67.9 points per contest and are shooting 41.2-percent from the field. They have also tallied 208 assists on the year while holding the opposition to just a .386 field goals percentage.

Clemson vs. Charlotte, The Series Wednesday’s game between the Lady Tigers and 49ers will be the 12th meeting in history for the two schools. Clemson leads the series by a 9-2 margin, which includes two victories at Charlotte. However, the 49ers have won the last two match-ups and defeated the Lady Tigers last year at Littlejohn Coliseum.
