Lady Tigers Complete Day One Of 2005 ACC Track And Field Championships

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Clemson women’s track and field team completed the first day of competition at the 2005 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at the Mike Long Track and Field Complex. The Lady Tigers tallied seven points behind top-eight performances by Krystal Woods and Della Clark. They are currently in eighth place.

Woods opened the Lady Tigers’ 2005 ACC Championships with a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw. The junior from Warminster, PA, bettered her previous personal-best mark with her throw of 143’0″/43.60m. Woods recorded that regional qualifying mark on her first throw of the day. In the final event of the day for Clemson, the hammer throw, Krystal Woods finished 12th with a throw of 153’2″/46.70m.

In the heptathlon, Clemson’s Tia Perry and Jessica Earp finished day one in 11th and 14th place, respectively. Perry crossed the finish line in a season-best 14.52 in the 100m hurdles, then cleared 4’6.75″ in the high jump. She recorded a mark of 30’8.25″ in the shot put and ended the day with a time of 25.17 in the 200m. Perry enters the final four events with 2,766 points. Earp clocked her season-best of 17.22 in the 100m hurdles, did not clear the minimum height in the high jump, then threw 31’10” in the shot put. She crossed the finish line in 27.41 in the 200m dash to finish the day with 1,760 points.
