Lady Tigers Begin Outdoor Season at Georgia Relays

March 15, 2007

Clemson, SC – The Lady Tiger track & field team is set to begin the 2007 outdoor season this weekend in Athens, GA. Clemson will take part in the Georgia Relays, held at the Spec Towns Track Facility on the University of Georgia campus. Twenty student-athletes from Clemson will make the trip.

Clemson is coming off a much-improved indoor campaign, where the Lady Tigers earned a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championships. Most recently, Della Clark earned All-America honors with a third-place showing in the weight throw at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, AR. Head Coach Marcia Noad is hoping the momentum carries over into outdoor season, beginning this weekend in Georgia.

Friday’s action will feature the hammer throw (3:30 PM) and triple jump (5:30) on the field side, and the sprint medley relay (5:50) on the track side. Patricia Mamona, who came up just short of a berth at NCAA indoors, will headline the Lady Tigers’ triple jumpers.

Saturday’s action gets underway at 12:45 PM with the 100m hurdles. Ra’Sheena Parker, Michaylin Golladay, and Scott will run at 1:00 as well.

In the 1500m run, five Lady Tigers will be competing at 1:40 PM. Ope Sobanjo is in the 400m dash at 2:05. Clemson will also compete in the 4x200m relay at 2:55, while Hill is scheduled for the 400m hurdles at 3:15 to conclude the Lady Tigers’ action Saturday.
