Lady Tiger Track And Field Team Finishes With Eight Top Ten Placings At Penn Relays.

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s track and field team competed at the Penn Relays this weekend in Philadelphia, PA. The Lady Tigers posted eight top ten finishes and were led by Jamine Moton, who won two events and set two school records.

Moton, a junior from Glassboro, NJ, won the discus championship and the hammer throw while finishing second in the shot put championship. She recorded an automatic qualifying mark of 52’6 ” (16.01m) in the shot put in her runner-up performance. Moton claimed the discus championship with another automatic qualifying mark of 182’2″ (55.52m), which was a season-best mark as well as a Clemson record. She set another season-best mark and school record in the hammer throw, with a mark of 189’3″ (57.68m).

Sheri Smith finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 40’9 ” (12.43m), and Nyjla Littlejohn posted a provisional qualifying time of 59.13 to finish sixth in the 400m hurdles. Mandy McLane cleared 12′ 0 ” to take fifth in the pole vault championships while Joana Costa finished tied for seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 11’5 “. The 4x100m relay team of Shannon Murray, Shekera Weston, Michelle Burgher and Cydonie Mothersill finished seventh with a provisional qualifying time of 44.62. Clemson’s 4x400m relay team posted a provisional qualifying time of 3:35.86 in the preliminary heat. Kyana Elder competed in the 100m hurdles, recording a time of 13.65.

The Lady Tigers will compete at the Georgia Relays next weekend in Athens, GA.
