Lady Tiger Swimming & Diving In Sixth After Day One of ACC Championships

Chapel Hill, NC- On the first day of the ACC Championships, Clemson Women’s Swimming and Diving team recorded two NCAA “B” qualifying times in the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay from Koury Natatorium in Chapel Hill, NC. Clemson is in sixth after the first day of competition with 54 points.

The first event of the night was the 800 freestyle relay where the all-sophomore team of Michelle Parkhurst, Cassy LaRussa, Casey Kroll, and Toni Kroll finished sixth with a time of 7:22.97. The time was a season best for the Lady Tigers. In the other relay, the 200 medley, Ashley Clay, Alexandra Barsanti, Jen Grove, and Rachel Regone claimed fifth with a time of 1:42.45.

North Carolina and Florida State broke the pool records in the 800 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay to take first place, respectively. The Lady Tar Heels are in first place with 72 points, followed by defending ACC Champion Florida State with 70 points. Virginia (64 points) is in third, Virginia Tech (62) is in fourth, Maryland (58) is in fifth, and Clemson is in sixth. Miami (48), North Carolina State (36), Duke (34), Georgia Tech (32), and Boston College (30) round out the field.

Action will reume Thursday morning at 11 a.m. with the preliminary heats of the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle.
