Rising Clemson junior Keri Wong has earned the top seed in the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships after posting a 14-0 record in three previous tournaments. She earned singles titles in the Southeast Circuit in Tallahassee, Montgomery, AL, and Athens, GA, to earn the top seed.
The ITA/USTA National Summer Championships are the pinnacle of the ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit, which was played at 32 regional sites throughout the country last month.
Wong picked up 35 points per event, which ended as the highest total of the 2,965 players who participated in this year’s events. The singles and doubles champions from the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships earn wild cards into the first national tournaments of the 2010-11 collegiate tennis season – the D’Novo Men’s and Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in early October.
Play will begin Saturday at the University of Indiana. Wong was a 2010 All-ACC selection, and finished the season ranked 53rd in the NCAA.
