May 6, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Subcommittee has selected the 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams that will compete in the 2010 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships. Ina Hadziselimovic are a top-eight seed in the doubles portion.

Additionally, Hadziselimovic and Keri Wong are the fourth alternate team selected in doubles, in the event of doubles teams pulling out or any injuries to any of the other 32 teams. The pair is ranked #29 nationally, and were 10-2 together in the dual-match season.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 26-31 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia, following the conclusion of the team championship (May 20-25). The University of Georgia will serve as host.

Bek, a sophomore, is ranked #17 nationally in singles this season. She has a 27-13 overall record and was selected to her second All-ACC team. Last season, she advanced to the Sweet 16 of the singles tournament, earning All-America honors.

Bek and Hadziselimovic, ranked #7 nationally, made it to the Final Eight a season ago, earning them All-America honors. The NCAA seeds the top eight teams by selecting teams one through four, and then giving the fifth through eighth teams a `5-8′ moniker. The pair is 13-2 during the dual match season and reached the ITA Carolina Regional Finals in the fall. The duo was 11-1 this season against ACC competition, including the tournament.

Hadziselimovic is arguably Clemson’s best doubles player in school history. The senior form Bosnia has 103 career wins, and is now extending her own school record. Additionally, she has 33 wins this season, tied for the most in school history.

Clemson opens play in the team NCAA Championship on May 14 with the College of Charleston. The match will take place at Clemson’s Hoke Sloan Tennis Center, and the Tigers are the #9 national seed.
