CLEMSON, SC – Clemson women’s tennis assistant coach Darrell Jernigan has been named the 2008 ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach-of-the-Year, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Jernigan, now in his third season as a coach of the Tiger program, and has helped guide Clemson to the 2008 ACC title and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Championships round of 16.
“We are so excited and proud of Coach Jernigan,” said Head Coach Nancy Harris. “This honor was well deserved. I am so fortunate to have him as a member of my staff. He has a great work ethic and comes to work every day with a smile.”
The Tigers own a 17-9 record this season and will face Stanford on Thursday in the NCAA Championships round of 16 in Tulsa, OK
He is eligible for the national award to be announced on May 20.
