Hewson Leading Clemson at Cougar Classic

Clemson, S.C.—Alice Hewson shot an even-par 72 on Monday to lead Clemson at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Golf Club in Hanahan, SC.   Clemson is in 18th place out of 21 teams at the tournament regarded as one of the best in women’s college golf.  The field includes 15 teams from the ACC, SEC and Big Ten.

Clemson shot 302 as a team on Monday afternoon and stands at 19 over par 595 after 36 holes on the par 72 course.  Hewson was the only Clemson golfer to shoot par and she has a 145 total after two rounds, good enough for 31st place.    

Freshman Ana Paula Valdes and junior Sydney Legacy had rounds of four over par 76 and are 58th and 65th, respectively entering the final round.  Marisa Messana had a round of 78 and Sloan Shanahan had an 81. 

The field of 106 golfers will conclude play with 18 holes on Tuesday.
