Dear Clemson Family!
My name is Abby Jones and I am a senior health science major. I am an attacking center midfielder on the women’s soccer team here at Clemson. I am writing you today to ask for your help with our initiative, the Palmetto Series Food Drive. Please join me in taking a stand to fight the battle of hunger and putting an end to the food insecurities across the state of South Carolina.
I started this campaign last year as I saw a group of people struggling and knew I could aid by using the platform God has put in front of me, of being a student-athlete, as an opportunity to serve those in our community and give back. With one in four children going to bed hungry every night, we can make a difference. Being a part of the SC Department of Agriculture’s Palmetto Series, this food drive is a competition between Clemson University and University of South Carolina for which institution can raise the most donations for our local food banks – Harvest Hope Food Bank and Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Together, last year, we were able to raise almost 200,000 meals to support those in need, but I think we can collect even more canned foods in this year’s campaign. The efforts will lead up to the Clemson- South Carolina football game where the winner will be revealed.
As we are set to begin Oct. 31, I am asking you, Clemson Family, to get ready to give, because I believe Clemson Can! make a difference, one can at a time. Are you All In?
Here’s how YOU can contribute, from Oct. 31-Nov. 21:
Go Tigers!Abby Jones
