Hank King Named Assistant Coach

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson head baseball coach Jack Leggett announced the hiring of Hank King as an assistant coach for the Tiger baseball program on Tuesday.

“We are extremely pleased to have Hank become a part of our baseball program,” said Leggett. “He brings a strong solid knowledge base with him and some great coaching experience at the junior college level. He also played professional baseball as well. I think he will do a great job working with our players.”

King comes to Clemson after spending last season as the head coach of Edmonds Community College in Seattle, WA. Edmonds finished the season as the runner-up in the Northwest Athletic Association Community College league title chase.

In 1998, King managed the Seattle Devil Rays to the Connie Mac State Championship. During that time, he also was head recruiter and head instructor for the Eastside Rays Baseball Organization, which maintained baseball clubs for youth ages 13-18.

Prior to his work in coaching, King played shortstop in the California Angels organization from 1993-95. In 1993, he was a member of the Boise Hawks baseball club that won the Northwest League Championship.

As a collegiate player at Edmonds, he was named the Northern Division’s Most Valuable Player in 1990. Following Edmonds, he went on to finish his collegiate career at Oklahoma City University. While King played at Oklahoma City, the school was a participant in the 1992 NAIA World Series, where the Stars finished third.

King graduated from Oklahoma City University with a bachelor’s of science degree in health in 1995.
