Greeley Leads Tigers at Western Carolina Invitational

Cullowhee, NC – Clemson field event athletes and multi-event performers concluded competition Saturday at the Western Carolina Invitational. Mitch Greeley posted another regional-qualifying mark in the pole vault and moved into second place in the Tigers’ all-time list for that event.

In the 400m, Ryan Koontz was seventh overall with a time of 50.95, while Brent Hobbs (52.85) and Mike Feathers (54.66) also competed for Clemson in that event on Saturday. Koontz was third in the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 14.80, while Hobbs was right behind in fourth at 14.87. Feathers clocked a 15.37 for that event.

Greeley cleared 17’2.75″ for his best outdoor mark, which is good enough for tied in second place in Clemson history in the pole vault. Greeley, the indoor record holder in that event, finished in second place just ahead of red-shirt freshman Kenny Knox. The native of Spartanburg, SC cleared 14’7.25″. Feathers cleared 13’7.25″ for a sixth-place finish for the Tigers in that event as well.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, April 8 to play host to the Clemson Invitational from the Rock Norman Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
