CLEMSON, S.C. – Constanza Gorches, from Mexico City, Mexico, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Clemson women’s tennis team for the 2016-17 season. Gorches is the second member of the Tigers’ freshman class for next season, joining Sydney Riley (Dallas, Texas), who signed with the team in Nov. 2015.
Gorches’ career best ITF juniors ranking is 126, achieved in March 2014. She earned her highest WTA singles ranking of 709 in Oct. 2015 and her best WTA doubles ranking of 627 in Dec. 2013. She reached the doubles finals at a 25K in Tampico, Mexico in Oct. 2013 and a 10K in Manzanillo, Mexico in June 2015, and the doubles semifinals at a 25K in Cuernavaca, Mexico in Feb. 2015. In ITF singles play, Gorches advanced to the semifinal round of two 10Ks, in Quintana Roo, Mexico in June 2014 and in Manzanillo in June 2015.
Gorches competed in the World Junior Tennis Competition final event in 2011 in the Czech Republic. She has also represented Mexico at the Junior Fed Cup twice, in Barcelona, Spain in 2012 and in San Luis Potosi in 2013.
