Glover Set for US Open

June 13, 2007

Clemson, SC-Former Clemson All-American Lucas Glover will begin play in the 2007 US Open on Thursday. The 107th US Open will be played at the par 70 Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, PA June 14-17. Glover is paired with Camilo Villegas, a former Florida All-American, and Aaron Baddeley in the first two rounds. The threesome will start on Thursday at 1:36 PM from the first tee and from the 10th tee on Friday at 8:06 AM.

This will be Glover’s third appearance at the US Open. He shot 151, 11-over-par at the 2002 US Open in Farmingdale, NY and shot 152, 12 over par, at Winged Foot in Mamaronek, NY last year.

While Glover is yet to make a cut at a US Open, he has made the cut at his last two Majors. He finished 46th at the 2006 PGA at Medinah Country Club in Illinois, then finished 20th at the 2007 Masters after firing a 298 score.

A top 20 finish at the US Open this week would make Glover just the second former Clemson golfer to finish in the top 20 at the Masters and the US Open in the same year. Jonathan Byrd finished eighth at the Masters and 15th at the US Open in 2003.

Glover is the only golfer with ties to Clemson competing in the US Open this year. He did not have to go through qualifying by virtue of his top 30 finish on the money list last year. Nine golfers with ties to Clemson advanced to Sectional Qualifying, but all nine failed to advance.

So far this year Glover is 53rd on the PGA money is with $875,056. He is also 53rd on the FedEX Cup point list. He has made 11 cuts in 16 tournaments and has five top 25 finishes, including two top 10s. He has a 70.74 stroke average for the year.
