A donor who wishes to remain anonymous has created an IPTAY Endowment in honor of Clemson’s orthopedic team physician, Dr. Larry S. Bowman.
In making the announcement. IPTAY Executive Director George Bennett said, “This person who created this Endowment has great admiration for Larry. He has observed Larry in his work.
“He came to us back in May of this year and said he wanted to make an Endowment to honor Larry.”
Dr. Bowman was recognized recently at an IPTAY Endowment dinner. “It certainly is an honor,” he said. “I feel like a small cog in the medical and training staff at Clemson. I’m certainly not deserving, but I appreciate everything.”
Many members of Clemson’s medical and training staff attended the dinner. “I’ve had a long and excellent relationship with Larry,” said Clemson Trainer Emeritus Fred Hoover. “I had the opportunity to learn from him.
“One of the things that makes Larry so special is he always has time for our student-athletes. He is appreciated by all who know him.”
Bennett said the donor “asked me to express appreciation for everything that Larry is doing for Clemson athletics in such a professional manner.”
A native of Baltimore, MD, Dr. Bowman is the founder of Blue Ridge Orthopedics. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree at West Virginia University and a master’s degree in bioengineering from Clemson.
