Georgia State Defeats Clemson 1-0 in Exhibition Men’s Soccer Match

ATLANTA (Aug. 25, 2007)–The Georgia State men’s soccer team defeated Clemson 1-0 in an exhibition match played at Atlanta, GA Saturday.

The Panthers scored midway through the first half after Floreal Pedrazo escaped one defender for a breakaway goal off a long pass from junior Dathan Knott for the 1-0 advantage.

Clemson responded to the goal, outshooting the Panthers 25-7 overall, but could not answer. The Tigers’ Nathan Thornton was aggressive with the ball, finishing with six shots.

The Tigers open the regular season next Friday night as Clemson plays host to South Carolina at Historic Riggs Field at 7:30 pm.

“We played well enough to win and the chances were there,” said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. “We has so many chances, but we could not capitalize. We will have to work hard and prepare for South Carolina next Friday night.”
