Friday’s Game Versus Georgia Tech Postponed Until 5:15 on Saturday

Clemson, SC- The first of the three-game series between Georgia Tech and Clemson has been postponed until 5:15 PM on Saturday. The game was delayed at 9:50 PM Friday due to inclement weather and the threat of lightning in the area

The game was stopped in the bottom of the eighth inning with the two teams tied at 6-6. Clemson will have one out and Michael Johnson will be at the plate for the Tigers. The game scheduled for 7:00 PM Saturday night will remain the same, barring any extra innings in the completion of the first game.

Clemson jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. David Slevin on the play. Then Jeff Hourigan doubled to score Brad McCann.

The Tigers increased the lead to 4-0 after Russell Triplett hit a bunt single to third. Roberto Valiente scored on the play after Yellow Jacket third baseman Mike Nickeas had an errant throw to first base.

Georgia Tech then had a six-run fifth inning to take the lead. The inning was highlighted by Micah Owings’ grand slam, his 13th home run of the year and first career grand slam.

Clemson responded by tying the game at 6-6 in the seventh inning. After Slevin reached on an error, shortstop Russell Triplett hit his fifth home run of the year and second in as many games.
