Fountain to Compete in Pentathlon at Kentucky’s McCravy Memorial

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson junior Whitney Fountain will be the Tigers’ lone competitor making the trip to Lexington, KY for this weekend’s Rod McCravy Memorial. The Bronx, NY native is slated for the pentathlon, which will be held Friday beginning at 10:00 AM. The 60 hurdles will be held first, followed by the high jump, shot put, long jump and 800 meters.

Fountain is currently third on the NCAA performance list in the pentathlon. She totaled 3,998 points – a personal best – in winning the five-event grind to open the season last month at the Orange & Purple Classic. Fountain, a two-time all-conference performer in the pentathlon, is No. 3 in the Clemson record books.

The rest of the nation’s No. 1 ranked team will return to action next weekend with the prestigious New Balance Invitational in New York City.
