CLEMSON, SC – Former Clemson golfers Lucas Glover and D.J. Trahan will be in the field at the 2010 PGA Championships at Whistling Straits Golf Club in Kohler, WI this weekend. Play begins on Thursday on the par 72 course that is 7507 yards in length.
Trahan will start on Thursday at the first hole at 9:20 AM eastern time. He will play his first two rounds with Edwardo Molinaro and Thongchai Jaidee. Glover will start Thursday at the first hole at 2:25 PM and will be paired with Henrik Stenson and Zach Johnson.
Glover has made the cut in all three Majors so far this year, one of just 21 golfers world wide to accomplish that feat. He finished 37th at The Masters, 58th at the US Open and 48th at the British Open. He actually has a cut streak of four in a row in majors dating to last year’s PGA. It is the longest streak on record in Majors among former Clemson golfer.
Glover finished fifth at the PGA Championship last year at Hazeltine in Edina, MN, the best finish on record for a former Clemson golfer at the PGA and the second best finish in any Major. Of course Glover also has the top finish on record by a Clemson golfer in a Major when he won the 2009 US Open at Bethpage Black in New York.
So far this year, Glover is 47th on the money list with over $1.3 million. He has played in 18 tournaments and made 14 cuts, including seven top 25s. His top finish of the year is a third place at The Players in May.
Trahan will be playing in his fourth consecutive PGA. He finished 31st in the 2008 PGA at Bloomfield Hills, MI. So far this year, Trahan is 59th on the PGA Tour money list with just over $1 million. He is 11th on tour in greens in regulation at nearly 70 percent and is 14th on tour in top 10 finishes with five.
