Sept. 14, 2010
The weekend of the Clemson football game against Maryland, October 15-16, 2010, has been designated “Football Reunion Weekend,” and several teams of the past will be recognized and honored during weekend festivities, according to Charlie Bussey of the Tiger Letterwinners Association.
“Players, managers, trainers and coaches of the teams of 1939, 1941, 1948, 1950, 1960, 1972, 1985 and 2000 are invited to participate,” said Bussey. “We have contacted everyone for whom we have mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, etc. If anyone who was a member of any of the reunion teams has not been contacted, they should e-mail or call me immediately at cbussey@clemson.edu or 864-656-2979.”
Reunion activities include a reception (cash bar) on Friday evening, October 15, at the Clemson Ramada Inn, followed by dinner and a short program. On Saturday, team members will be provided bus transportation to Memorial Stadium, departing the Ramada Inn two hours prior to kickoff, and returning to the Ramada Inn immediately after the game.
Participants are invited to tailgate in the Tiger Letterwinners Room prior to the game and will then walk down “The Hill” together as they are introduced to the stadium crowd. Team members and their guests will sit in a special reserved section while watching the game.
“Team reunions are always a lot of fun,” said Bussey, “Anyone wishing to take part in any of the events should contact me immediately so I can notify the Ramada Inn how many to expect for dinner. Also, game tickets will be limited and are available to those who have contacted me.”
