Follow the Tigers at Winter Training Camp

The Clemson diving team is in Coral Springs, Fla. for a week-long training camp from Dec. 13-20. The Tigers are training at the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex. The team is also spending the week bonding – reading and discussing a book, participating in a community service activity and other team functions.

ClemsonTigers.com will check in with the Tigers throughout the trip, and will keep fans updated here.

Our newest Tiger, Megan Jendra, is the recipient of the cube, which is our team symbol. A cube is made of 12 lines…the most stable shape. We have 12 divers on the team this year…coincidence? #SolidOrange

ABOUT THE CUBE A cube is made up of 12 lines that connect to form it, which makes the cube one of the most stable structures to build with. The cube is a symbol of unity for the Clemson diving team, as the 12 members of the team are stronger when they are together.

Each season, the team holds a commitment ceremony for the cube, which is a symbolic expression of each diver’s personal role and goals in honor of the team’s purpose statement. At the ceremony, each diver stands up in front of her teammates and verbalizes her personal statement and commitment to the team goals and purpose, as well as her individual mission, role and goals.

The cube is the Tiger diving team’s version of a “game ball” that might be presented to an MVP at the end of a game for other sports’ teams. During winter training camp, the cube is presented daily to the most inspirational team member, and is selected by the diver that was awarded the cube on the previous day. During the season, the cube is presented to one diver at the end of each week of training. At meets, the cube is presented to the most inspirational competitor.
