Head track & field and cross country coach Mark Elliott took the plunge Wednesday. The Tigers’ second-year mentor was issued the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by jumper Mimi Land. Elliott graciouisly accepted and headed for the loading dock behind the Jervey Athletic Center late in the afternoon, where volunteer assistant Michael Porter and graduate assistant athletic trainer Michael Brown were busy filling a large Gatorade bucket with ice and water.
Elliott then challenged several colleagues, including former Tiger assistant Adrain Mann, now at Miami. He also challenged his mentor, Pat Henry of Texas A&M, and one of his former co-workers, Debbie Parris-Thymes of LSU. What you won’t see in the video is that it actually took two takes, due to unforeseen technical difficulties with the first recording.
Enjoy!
