CLEMSON, S.C. – Three days after being named to the 2018 All-ACC Defensive Team, junior guard Danielle Edwards has collected another conference award, this time for her hard work in the classroom. Edwards was selected to the 2018 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Friday morning. It is the third-consecutive All-ACC Academic nod for the native of Perry Hall, Md.

Edwards is a Sports Communication major and has maintained a cumulative grade point average about 3.6 for her Clemson career. On the basketball court, she started all 30 games for the Tigers in 2017-18, and ranked second on the team in scoring, with a 9.2 points per game average. Edwards led the team in steals (78), assists (69) and minutes per game (31.1).

She has started all 91 games of her three-year career for the Tigers, and eclipsed the 800-point mark in scoring against Duke on Feb. 11, 2018. She 836 career points, to go along with 228 assists and 206 steals through three seasons.

This is the seventh consecutive year that at least one Clemson women’s basketball player has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team, which includes all five years under Head Coach Audra Smith. Edwards is only the third player in Clemson history to earn three career All-ACC Academic Team honors, joining Kanetra Queen (2002-04) and Kelly Gramlich (2012-14). In her senior season in 2018-19, she will have the chance to become the only four-year conference academic award winner in program history.
