Diving Prepares for Phil Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON, TX – The Clemson women’s diving team will compete in an out-of-region invite this weekend. The Phil Hansel Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston, will begin on Thursday, November 15, and end on Saturday, November 17.

Many of the teams that will be competing against the Tigers in their second team competition of the season are from the Midwest. The list includes schools like Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, and TCU that are outside Clemson’s geographic footprint.

“We are looking forward to competing at the Phil Hansel Invite,” Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams said. “This is going to be one of the largest invitationals that we will compete in this year. There will be 14 different universities competing. It will be a great opportunity for our ladies to compete against divers that they normally would not compete against during our regular season.

“This will be a great dress rehearsal for our ACC championship meet in February.  We are looking forward to achieving competitive excellence in Houston.”

Sophomore Chelsea Uranaka is currently ranked in the top 15 in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the three-meter with a score of 265.65. Senior Elizabeth Tatum and freshmen Megan Helwagen and Juliana Melchionda are also on the conference’s top 20 in the event. Melchionda and Tatum are also top 20 performers in the conference in the one-meter.
