CLEMSON, SC — Clemson junior David Dannelly finished tied for 13th out of 312 players during the 36-hole stroke play qualifying tournament at two courses in the state of Washington on Monday and Tuesday. He will be one of 64 players in the match play championship that will begin Wednesday at Chambers Bay Golf Club in University Place, WA.
Dannelly shot rounds of 72 on each course, the Home Course on Monday and Chambers Bay on Tuesday. He had four birdies and 10 pars during each round. Dannelly will play Byeong-Hun An of the University of California in the first round beginning at 2:00 PM eastern. Clemson junior Jacob Burger finished in a tie for 59th in the stroke play qualifier with rounds of 73 at The Home Course and 76 at Chambers Bay for a 149 total. He was one of 16 players competing for the final six spots in the match play championship tournament during a playoff Wednesday morning, but he failed to advance.
