Cross Country Takes On Panorama Farms Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Cross country season heats up this weekend at the Panorama Farms Invitational on Friday as 15 schools are scheduled to compete in the race hosted by the Virginia Cavaliers. The women will begin the day with their 5k at 10:00 a.m., with the men following with an 8k at 10:30 a.m. Friday marks the first race of 2016 for All-Conference harrier, Grace Barnett.

Last week, the women placed fourth overall while the men took fifth at the Furman Classic. Micah Williams led the Tigers for the second time in as many weeks while Alexa Womack emerged in an impressive comeback performance.

Womack finished with a time of 22:08.71 to take 11^th overall with Morgan Wittrock, Erin McLaughlin, Jenna Gearing and Ersula Farrow filling in the top five. Wittrock, McLaughlin and Gearing finished within 20 seconds of each other and each of Clemson’s top five finishers placed in the top 25 of the 6k race.

Williams placed 15^th overall in his 8k with a time of 25:41.53. Mpho Makofane and Justin Lippert each finished not far behind Williams in 19^th and 21^st place while Clayton Wilson and Andrew Emery also scored for the Tigers.
