PALO ALTO, CA – Former Clemson men’s track and field athlete Shawn Crawford qualified for the semifinals of the 100m dash at the USA Championships held at Cobb Track and Angell Field on the campus of Stanford University. Crawford clocked a 10.17 in the 100m preliminaries, one-tenth of one second off his season-best time of 10.07. The semifinals are scheduled for 5:55 PM (PT) followed by the finals at 7:30 PM (PT) on Friday evening. On Saturday, Crawford will compete in the preliminaries of the 200m.
Otto Spain, who recently exhausted his collegiate eligibility at Clemson, ran a 47.35 in the preliminaries of the 400m. The 2003 ACC Champion in the 400m did not advance to the semifinals of the event.
Rising junior George Kitchens will compete on Friday evening in the long jump. The native of Hephzibah, GA, was the 2003 East Region Champion in the long jump and earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships this year. He has a lifetime-best mark of 25’11.75″.
